There are many organisations  and interest groups active across Basingstoke. This is a list in alphabetic order of the Clubs, Groups and classes meeting regularly in  or specifically focused on Kempshott. Their website links are in boldprint.

Art Clubs

Kaderosi Art Club meet on a Tuesday, Kestrel Art Club meet on a Friday –  both meeting in Kempshott Village Hall (Tel: 07799 693339).

Craft Club meet Thursday evenings also in Kempshott Village Hall.


Basingstoke & Mid-Hants Athletics Club are based at the Down Grange track and sports pavilion and involve men, women, seniors and juniors in a wide range of amateur track and field sports, (Facebook:BasingstokeMHAC/)


Ballet & Dance

The Dance Dept hold classes at Old Down Hall on Tuesdays – 16:35-17:20 Little Miss Ballet (yrs 3 -6)  and Fridays – 14.25 – 14.50 Ballet Tots ( age 2.5 – 4yrs) and other informal dance classes at locations in adjacent areas. (Facebook:TheDanceDept/)




Racing Club Petanque is based at Basingstoke Rugby Club in Down Grange Park where they play.



There are bowls clubs at Oakley and in Russell Howard Park in South Ham, for more details of Oakley bowling club see their Facebook account: oakleybowlingclub/.


The Loddon Vale Indoor Bowls Club is located on the Basingstoke Leisure Park.


Kempshott has a cricket pitch – but no cricket team.

Basingstoke Cricket Club have their own ground near town centre.

The Kempshott pitch in Stratton Park is used by other teams in the North Hampshire Cricket League.


Hatch Warren and Beggarwood Cycling Club is the local  leisure road cycling club,  (more details at Facebook: HWBcc/)  while there is also a road racing club in Basingstoke.

Dummer Golf Club  is the  nearest clubs of the many  in North Hampshire (Facebook: dummergolfclub). There is also a driving range on the Leisure Park.

Healthy Eating & Community Gardening

With the accent on young people, Healthy Eating & Community Gardening, the  Inspero  fantastic garden and growing space are situated by KempshottVillage Hall. See also their Facebook page: Love2Grow/.

Kempshott Daytime Club

The Daytime Club is a social club for everyone in Kempshott and surrounding areas who wants to keep their mind active and meet up with friends  old and new during the day at Kempshott Village Hall. We  meet weekly on Wednesday mornings and Friday mornings  – 10.30 – 12.00pm for refreshments and a chat.  On Wednesdays we sometimes have activities or crafts to amuse us aand there are always table top games , darts and bowls. The Kempshott History Group research local history and meet quarterly for talks and presentations at Kempshott Village Hall

Martial Arts

There are many martial arts clubs in Basingstoke for both Children and Adults.

Mens’ Shed

The Basingstoke & North Hants Model Railway Society have their own hall in Stratton Park and meet regularly several times per week

Baby Sensory meet in Kempshott Village Hall on  Monday mornings.

Nature Conservation

Kempshott has a number of wildlife rich natural green spaces within the ward and a number of very active groups helping to conserve these spaces for the benefit of wildlife and residents. These are:

The Kancare service  has closed, but Basingstoke NeighbourCare offer pre-arranged transport to hospitals, appointments and the like for those who cannot access an alternative.

The Basingstoke Air Rifle and Pistol Club are based in the Walled Garden, Down Grange

The Top Spin table tennis group meet in the Kempshott Methodist Hall on Fridays


There are six tennis courts which are open and free to use in Stratton Park but no tennis club at that location
